What sets EarResistible Piercing apart from other companies?

We are registered nurses (RNs) with over 50 years of combined experience in the medical field. Having worked in a variety of settings has instilled a deep understanding of infection prevention measures. We take your health and safety very seriously. We only use Blomdahl medical plastic and medical-grade titanium piercing studs (see next FAQ). We offer a unique piercing experience in the privacy and comfort of your own home.
Which is safer, your device or a needle?

There is quite a bit of information out there about which is safer, a needle or the type of device we use. Sources affiliated with the body piercing industry will say a needle is safer, which is to be expected. However, what we know, as Registered Nurses, is both are very safe. Both have their advantages, but ultimately you or your child are safe with either process. The decision to go with a needle piercing or our piercing is simply a matter of choice and not a matter of safety.
The devices or guns that are not safe are those that do not use one-time use piercing studs. The area that touches you has touched many other people and they are difficult to get completely clean; therefore, they may pass on bloodborne pathogens. With our sterile, one-time use piercing studs we can guarantee this won’t occur.
Why should I choose Blomdahl nickel-free plastic or medical-grade titanium?

The term ‘nickel-free’ can be deceiving. In the US, this term is not regulated, so, in essence, anyone can say any jewelry is nickel-free and hypoallergenic, regardless of nickel content. Two to three percent of the world’s population is born with a nickel allergy. This number jumps to 25% after their first piercing with studs that contain nickel. A nickel allergy presents itself as an itching, red, sore, swollen, and irritated area. Many people mistake this for an infection, but it could be the nickel in your studs!
Blomdahl is the only provider that offers a truly, 100% nickel-free piercing stud with medical plastic. In addition, they also offer medical-grade titanium.
Medical-grade titanium has one of the lowest amounts of nickel (trace amounts) of ANY metal alloy stud. Medical titanium is safe for people with nickel allergies/sensitivities because it is encased and will not leak into the tissue. This is the same titanium that has been used in medical devices and for dental purposes for years.

What piercings does EarResistible Piercing do at what ages?

Earlobe piercings: We pierce infants beginning at 2 months if they have received their first Dtap vaccination. We pierce infants up until 12 months. Then people 4 years of age and older. We do not pierce children between the ages of 13 months and 4 years due to an increased risk of infection during this time.

Cartilage piercings: 12 years of age and older.
Is it safe for everyone to get their ears pierced?

Medical ear piercing, for the vast majority of people, is perfectly safe. However, certain people with lowered immune systems or skin conditions should consult with their health care provider before piercing. We cannot pierce through large amounts of scar tissue (which does not include re-piercing), moles, acne, or keloids. If you have a specific question about a condition, please call, text, or email.
Where on the body do you pierce?
Do you offer numbing cream?

Numbing cream is available upon request. We do want to note that numbing cream does not make the experience pain-free. It just allows for numbing of the ear surface. It does take 10-20 minutes before it takes effect. Please notify us in advance if you would like to use numbing cream.
How long will the piercing take to heal?
Are there specific aftercare instructions?

Yes! After your piercing is complete, please do not touch your ears. When it is time to clean the piercing, always wash your hands first. The piercing should be cleaned a minimum of twice a day, simply with a mild liquid soap and water. Do not turn your earrings, as this can delay the healing process. You will receive detailed verbal and written instructions for aftercare during your piercing session.
What should I expect during the appointment in my home?

You can expect one or two registered nurses to arrive with all the necessary supplies for your unique piercing experience. We ask for the use of a kitchen/dining room sized chair and an area large enough for a small table and an equipment case. We pierce both ears at the same time, so will also need space on each side of the client for this.
If numbing cream is requested, we will apply it to your ears shortly after arrival as it takes at least 10 minutes to take effect. We will ask you to fill out a short health history, as well as a consent for the piercing. You will receive detailed verbal and written instructions for aftercare.
We will mark your ears with a surgical pen to ensure perfect placement. This is the step that takes the longest. We want to make sure that the placement is exactly where you want. Now we are ready to pierce!
From our arrival to our departure, it will take approximately 30 minutes.

How much does the entire experience cost?

The cost varies base on number of piercings and starts at $90.

We can do up to 3 piercings on one client.

There is a discount for additional piercings at the same location.

What is your service area?

We service the greater Twin Cities area, within 20 miles of Minneapolis.

We are willing to travel outside the area, for an additional fee of $1 per mile. Our maximum distance for one piercing is 30 miles from Minneapolis. We will consider traveling further for multiple piercings.

*We only offer piercings within the state of Minnesota.
